In the late nineties Marietta travelled to New Zealand, having been head-hunted from Dublin’s College of Marketing and Design, where her talent there had earned her the rare opportunity of working for fashion designers Denise L’Estrange-Corbet and Francis Hooper of WORLD. WORLD are internationally recognised as conceptual leaders throughout the fashion industry. Their acknowledgement of, and trust in Marietta’s artistic vision culminated in their request that she alone style their creations for Sydney Fashion Week 2000. Marietta’s avant-garde creativity was so recognised in New Zealand that many visiting international entertainers such as Eddie Izzard and Billy Connolly invited her to style them for their shows.

On her return to Ireland in the early Noughties, Marietta became an accredited buyer at International Fashion Week in London, Paris and Milan and has introduced many eclectic labels to Ireland. Over the years she has developed strong contacts and connections with influential people within the fashion industry such as Colin McDowell, fashion historian and Sunday Times Style writer.

In 2002, Marietta responded to a gap in the Irish fashion market by offering a personal shopping service to clients on a one-to-one style consultation basis, she was one of the first people in Ireland to provide this service. She has a great belief that everything is possible and all ‘looks’ are achievable. Above all else she derives huge pleasure from the transformation of clients’ image and confidence.

Marietta’s fashion nous has also resulted in commissions from the Irish Independent newspaper’s Weekender Magazine. She has written many articles, from critiques on leading Irish fashion designers to reviews of national and international fashion events. Her expert opinion is regularly called upon by various other national newspapers and magazines. Her work as a stylist on television and photo shoots is also in demand. For half a decade Marietta was a regular contributor to the RTE primetime fashion programme ‘Off The Rails’ where her style and expertise proved a huge hit with viewers, and gained her a loyal fan base.

Image Consulting

Unbeknownst to themselves people can get stuck in a rut and only after receiving a comment on their image do they begin to question their appearance: I will appraise your overall image and offer advice based on your apirations, the aim being to bring out your full potential. We will discuss in detail how you wish to portray yourself and I will advise you on the appropriate action to take.

Styling Seminars

Creating the right image has never been so important. I conduct seminars for corporations and businesses whose employees interact with the public. It is important that an employee makes a good impression when they are representing your company, they need to adapt their personal image to the company image and brand.

It has been proven that having properly trained retail staff (styling and people skills) will increase sales and repeat business. Proper training ensures a feel-good transaction for the customer and job satisfaction for the employee. I give in-house training at boutiques and department stores nationwide.

I give talks on personal grooming in schools around the country – from the basics of personal hygiene, hair styling etc. to the importance of portraying an image that will ensure respect from others. When we are valued and treated respectfully, there is a positive growth in self-confidence.

I also give more light-hearted talks to smaller groups, for example a ladies’ lunch or girls’ night-in, on the importance of image, style and fashion. I entertain you with an insider’s guide to the tricks of the fashion trade. Sartorial disasters will be a thing of the past!
