Ailish Drake http://www.sowandgrow.ie/ I am an architect and garden designer. I founded Sow and Grow in Spring 2011. I teach people how to grow vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers in an easy, time-saving way. I started my business by teaching kids and before long I discovered that adults too needed a helping hand, so that they could garden with their own kids and pass on a valuable skill which has been lost in the last number of decades. I believe that by knowing how food is grown makes us more health aware and gets our kids eating fresh and organic crops from our own gardens. I have two small boys, Sam 5 and Michael 2, who love their vegetables but most of all getting their hands dirty out in the garden.

Catherine Murphy http://www.eoireland.com Hi, my business name is EO Ireland. EO is a range of natural & organic body care products that are suitable for all skin types and all the family. I am a big natural product advocate, was a fan of EO products and wanted to introduce the range to Ireland. Ethical products – they are part of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics which was co-founded by Breast Cancer Fund. Breast Cancer Fund advise we avoid personal/body care products with artificial fragrance (listed as “parfum” or “fragrance”); parabens (a cheap preservative) and other harsh chemicals such as sodium laureth/lauryl sulphate. So always read your labels. This range of lotion, shower gel, hair care and soap is also ideal for people with sensitive skin/eczema/dermatitis as there are no harsh chemicals.
EO has just been selected by Ireland’s largest pharmacy chain and just launched April 3 2013 at Lloyds Pharmacy, Blackrock Shopping Centre (part of the Doc Morris group); a huge acknowledgement of the quality of the brand and great also to see the demand for natural products is on the rise. Check EO out there if you are passing by. The Irish Times said EO “is as pure as you will get,” The Sunday Business Post said “Every once in a while a brand comes along that makes us beam with pleasure,” and The Sunday Independent said “Brand was a real find of Summer 2012.”

Elaine from http://www.babybitznpartypieces.com I’m originally from Dublin, have been married to Andy for 8 years and we now live in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath with our two little girls, Mia (4.5) and Zoey (2.5). My background is in Customer Service Management and I am also a qualified Accounting Technician (iati). I spent 9 years working with McDonalds, starting out at 16 as a crew member and working my way up to Second Assistant Manager. I finished with McDonalds in March 2004 and moved to Hertz Europe Service Centre. I spent a year in the back office and moved then to a Team Leader role where I managed the UK Call Centre team. I left to go on Maternity Leave in June 2008 and was made redundant when my Maternity Leave finished as my role no longer existed due to restructuring within the company. Faced then with the daunting role of finding a new job which fit around my 6 month old daughter, I decided to try something different and started as a self employed childminder from home. I looked after two toddlers fulltime as well as our own two when Zoey came along and while it was demanding and very challenging, I really enjoyed it. It gave me the opportunity to be at home with the girls which I was grateful for. Then in December 2010 when Zoey was 5 months old I started to really give some thought to maybe starting something that I could run from home and which would mean I could eventually give up the childminding. I started BabyBitz ‘n’ PartyPieces in late 2010 and for the next 18 months I worked flat out, childminding fulltime from 9-5.30 every day and spending my evenings and nights trying to build up the business. Eventually, towards the summer of 2012 I felt I was in a position where I could start thinking about becoming a fulltime Mumtrepreneur! It was a very scary time but I bit the bullet, gave notice to the parents of the children I was looking after and in September 2012 BabyBitz ‘n’ PartyPieces became my “real” job! The first 3 months were very tough, trying to strike a balance between home & family life and giving the business the time and attention it deserves. Our eldest is at Preschool 5 mornings per week now but the toddler is at home fulltime at the moment so she needs a lot of my attention in the mornings. We’ve a great routine going now since Christmas though so the hard work is paying off. About the Business BabyBitz ‘n’ PartyPieces is a one stop kids party shop offering parents fantastic value & choice in party bags & favour boxes for all occasions as well as our very popular Ready Steady Party complete kids party package (just add kids!). We also stock a range of childrens reading, sticker, colouring and educational activity books as well as a selection of novelty soothers, wooden toys, pocket money toys, arts & craft materials, reward charts and lots more. We also specialise in tailored gifts for flowergirl & page boys, new baby gifts We work closely with Creches & Preschools throughout the year offering discounts on books for their libraries and great value seasonal and end of term gifts for the children at Halloween & Christmas. Hajni Kele http://www.mianrasoaps.com My journey started back in 2003 when I took up soapmaking as a creative outlet and a relaxing pass time from an intense job of being an Early Intervention Specialist.Formulating, tweaking recipes and endless trial and error I was on a mission to make the finest soap!It didn’t end there. With the same determination and passion I had to breathe life into my products. Having no supporting team of experts behind me I took up the challenge and learnt the basics of Photography, Marketing and Graphic Design. Building up courage with the desire to get independent feedback I sent off some soaps to a critique in Germany known for her to the bone, in depth and sometimes harsh reviews. My soaps scored an incredible 9.4/10 and placed them way above well known global brands. I set up an e-commerce site and sent orders to all corners of the World from Finland to Singapore. Having no business background the natural progression was to brush up on my skills and in 2012 I took part in the PINC Program ran by The Rubicon Centre/CIT. With the support of South Cork Enterprise Board I attended Showcase 2013 with much anticipation and launched Mianra to the wider public. Much to my delight 25 retailers have signed up wanting to stock my products and one of my products won the Selected at Showcase title. I am now moving into a dedicated workshop which will allow me to extend my product range -exciting times ahead!!! Last but not least I am a Mama of a 5 year old boy who is full of mischief :)!

Pauline Clarke http://www.kookee.ie I’m a mum of 4 fabulous kids, always tired but I am also the owner of Kookee, A Artisan cookie company and a lot more besides. The inspiration for Kookee came after spending each Saturday morning baking cookies with my 3 children. Having given up work to become a carer for my eldest son, who was diagnosed with a form of Autism, each Saturday became a ritual baking day to envolve all 3 children in a fun family task. After many weeks and lots of cookies we started giving them as gifts to family and friends, and soon they started asking for some speciality orders and offering to pay. Over the next few months I perfected my receipes and decided that this would be a wonderful way to care for my kids and make my hobby into a business. So in 2009 I registered Kookee and tried out my products at farmers markets and craft fairs. As interest grew I contacted the Louth County Enterprise board who helped me get ready to launch my ideas. In November 2011 we approached our first customer and since then we have grown both our cookie range and our dry mixes. In December 2011 we added a new addition to our family with our new son Charlie. So it has been a busy but exciting time for us.Now we produce a range of high quality cookies, we form and freeze uncooked cookie pellets and sell to deli stores and coffee shops where our product is baked fresh instore each day. We also sell a ‘bake at home’ cookie mix to complement our cookies. We have an ever increasing range of flavors, many of which are also available in Gluten and Wheat free.

Purity Belle http://www.etsy.com/shop/PurityBelle was born through my love of reusing and recycling – I hated to see all the ends of old candles go to waste, so experimented with making new ones from all the little bits. I’ve come a long way since then and have been making candles for some time, testing all the way along to make the perfect candle. I use 100% pure soy wax which is much better for the environment and doesn’t release the toxins that paraffin candles do. I also do my best to source eco friendly materials such as recycled boxes and tags. A lot of my containers are upcycled, i.e. jars or tins that would otherwise be thrown out or put in the recycle bin.I do loads of different scented candles as well as gift packs for special occasions and a range of handmade cards.
Ruth O`Reilly http://www.pinataspinatas.com Having fallen in love with all the colours and shapes of the Pinatas in Mexico while on honeymoon, I knew I’d found something special that Irish families would love. As family life progressed making piñatas at home for family and friends was such a pleasure that I’d decided to take the big step and set up a business. At my first craft fair I sold more Pinatas than I ever dreamed I would and that was it I was hooked. The website went live two days before my second baby was born. This has enabled me to work from home with my two children, Lucien and Ruby who provide the inspiration and fun for many of my Pinatas designs. All designs are unique to Pinatas and there are numerous to browse and choose from. If you don’t see what you are looking for I can create a design just for you. Do you have a party theme you would like me to compliment? Why not personalize a Pinatas for someone special? A childs favourite cartoon character would bring a smile to any childs face, young or old. Turning a certain milestone why not theme your party to the decade you were born and compliment it with a piñata to match? These are just some of the ways a Pinatascan bring fun to your party. We hope you enjoy our Pinatasas much as we do making and bringing them to you.

I am happy teaching the classes that I love, working for myself and having quality time with my family.

The Loving Parent http://thelovingparent.com Parenting from the heart. Feel your way through parenthood, with a little help from our fictional friends. Blog posts by The OWL (One Who Learns), with wisdom and support from The Loving Mother and The Loving Father. Find out more about the characters at http://thelovingparent.com/about-thelovingparent The Loving Parent …
Aims to encourage parents to look inside for their guidance The Loving Mother (TLM) and The Loving Father (TLF) are within all of us. We might not know the reasons for feeling what we do, but we feel them anyway and we can learn to trust in these feelings. We promise never to judge (or scold) a parent who is conscious, willing to learn and doing their best. This is because of THE GUILT THING! Weve seen how destructive guilt is for a parents own well-being and how it can stop them from moving forward and listening to their intuition. It sends them further away from their heart and into their head. The One Who Learns openly admits her mistakes and TLM & TLF remind her that its not a mistake but an opportunity to go deeper, learn and think about doing it differently next time. But its always without judgement. Parents are way too quick to judge each other as it is! We dont need any more of that!We hope to build a community of parents who act from love (rather than fear), including love of themselves and forgiveness if they get it wrong. Unless a parent can learn to love and nurture her- or himself first then there is not enough to give to the little people. The Loving Parent is here to support, accept and share openly and honestly so that parents are safe and feel empowered. If you would like to address your own challenge to the team at The Loving Parent or have a story to share, please email email@example.com

Mary Drea http://www.addiebeads.com have always been a bit of a crafter. As a small child I loved to play with a paper and scissors. If there was a bit of glue about and even some glitter well I was in heaven. I loved the practical side to Art and Home Economics when I was in school … the science and theory never interested me. I loved to sew and knit and I would make anything and get involved in any art project that was going on. When I got older I became fanatical about knitting – dressing my three children from head to toe in hand knits .. rarely using a pattern and for me this was always the challenge. I went on to become a Montessori Teacher and my school quickly earned a reputation for being a great source of ‘all things crafty’ for children. I will never forget ‘body painting’ with ten 4 year olds in my back garden…10 little tots rolling around in paint on a summers day ….

Blanaid Johnson http://www.cloud10beauty.com Cloud 10 Beauty was launched in October 2012 and is Ireland’s first and only social online beauty store.
We strive to make shopping online a more social experience. When shopping in-store you rarely shop alone so we created a website where shoppers can freely interact with each other and with us to get the help and assistance they need. We offer a live chat feature where customers can chat with us. Customers can also interact with each other through product reviews, their profile pages, the Chat forum, the Blog and in Watch, which is our beauty channel where customers can watch the latest reviews and tutorials.
In store you can try products before you buy but service is rarely offered online. Cloud 10 Beauty offers free testers of products like foundation so you can try the colour in the comfort of your own home before you buy.
With our great Beauty Points scheme you can earn points not just by buying fabulous beauty products but also by reviewing products, signing up to receive our newsletter and by inviting your friends to join. Or even just by simply sharing the products you love with your friends on Facebook.
From the moment you arrive on Cloud 10, until your products are delivered to your door with your chosen free samples, we aim to create a simple and fun online shopping experience for beauty that cannot be found elsewhere.
